How do I store down jackets during the summer? I have two down jackets and I have no idea how to store them during the summer. Can I just vacuum seal them in the plastic bags? Would that flatten the jackets?

How do I stop the feather clumbs in my down jackets? I handwashed my Columbia down jacket and then let it dry out but the feathers somehow clumped together and some feathers fell out during the wash. How do I fix it without throwing it away? And it has this funky smell coming off the jacket now...is it because the feathers rotted?

What are down jackets made of? I'm shopping for a really warm down jacket for the coming winter. The few that I've seen that I like say that they are filled with 70% duck down feathers & 30% fowl feathers. The jackets don't seem very thick. They're also a bit expensive but I'm willing to spend the money, as long as I know I'l get my money's worth. Can anyone help?

how to care for DOWN PUFFER jackets..? I just bought a DKNY down puffer jacket and I washed it and dry it as "FLUFF" b.c I do not have a low or high setting on my dryer. As it was drying it dry to its original shape but the problem is i spoted marks on there from the dyer just on the sleeve though. "FLUFF" dry isnt Regular so it doesnt give off alot of heat. How could I prevent that from happening again.. SHould I try to dry it with a wet towl or somthing...? On the tag it reads TUMBLE DRY LOW and its polyester.. HELP!!!

Is the company Moonstone still in business? They made a great down jacket? I can't find their website, and no one seems to sell their down jackets anymore. Specifically the Lucid. I can find their sleeping bags sold at various online sites, but can't find their company site or that many jackets for sale.

I have a white down jacket with a fur trim hood. How do I get the yellow tint out? I baught a white down jacket with fur trim on the hood. All the dry cleaners I talked to said they cannot clean fur or to clean it I would need to remove the hood. So I tried washing it. How can I get rid of the A&F cologne smell of my new down jacket? I just bought a dark blue down puffer jacket from Abercrombie & Fitch, and I can't stand constantly smelling the cologne that they apparently douse all their clothes in (this is my first A&F purchase). Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the smell from my goose down jacket? I bought an L.E.I jacket that said on the label that it could be machine washed and well I washed it and it got this incredible funk. I've tried everything to get the smell out ...air drying, febreeze, washing it again...but the smell still won't come out!! Getting a down jacket wet while skiing? Obviously, you shouldn't get a down jacket wet, due to the fact that it will lose a large percent, if not all of it's heat retainment. However, what about using a down jacket when skiing or snowboarding? Falling, and getting wet snow all over you is a big part of both sports. How would a down jacket hold up to wet snow?

Can you measure the difference between Down and Synthetic materials (Primaloft, Quallofil, etc.)? Also, what is the difference between 100g of Primaloft insulation vs. 200g of Quallofil insulation. What would happen if I put my down feather jacket into a top load washer with an agitator? I need to wash my down feather jacket and it's filthy, it's tag says dry clean only, but whenever I get it back from the cleaner's, it's still filthy...I want to know if I can clean it myself without ruining it, if not completely? I want to clean it, as in there are stains, so fluffing and making it smell pretty aren't on the top of my list...Is handwashing the surface with detergent safe for the feathers?

Any ideas for drying a down jacket if? I stuck it in the wash to get a gigantic stain out of the back of the coat, but I cannot put it in the washing machine because of a faux fur trim on the hood which is not removable.
