What do we mean by Down Jackets? Why that name? Any significance?

- They are filled with very soft feathers. Some come from geese and others from the Eider duck. Down is the name given to this type of feather.
- "down" is young goose feathers, and is very insulating
- "Down" is the fluffy part of the feather (very insulating), a down vest, and a wool shirt, man, you could survive in the Arctic with that combo, very warm.
- They are stuffed with goose down, which is a good insulation. They keep you very warm....
- '' down'' is short for goosedown, which is goose feathers, which is what your jacket is stuffed with. very insulating and warm, but not worth a damn if wet or your allergic to it.
