What do we mean by Down Jackets? Why that name? Any significance?

  1. They are filled with very soft feathers. Some come from geese and others from the Eider duck. Down is the name given to this type of feather.
  2. "down" is young goose feathers, and is very insulating
  3. "Down" is the fluffy part of the feather (very insulating), a down vest, and a wool shirt, man, you could survive in the Arctic with that combo, very warm.
  4. They are stuffed with goose down, which is a good insulation. They keep you very warm....
  5. '' down'' is short for goosedown, which is goose feathers, which is what your jacket is stuffed with. very insulating and warm, but not worth a damn if wet or your allergic to it.
