What are the cruel ways of collecting down feathers?

im an animal rights groupie and up until now, I had no idea that down insulation is collected from animals and used in commercial products. for years, my mum has been buying me down jackets for the winter. (duh, she has the money) can i get some facts to support my statement that my family should boycott down products. holy shit i feel terrible!!! AHH i think im gonna cry. id rather be cold than have a poor bird die for my warmth!!

1. oh my goodness tell them to stop they have to shave most of the feathers off a bird to get to the layer of soft feathers on there stomach and that kills them no jking i saw it on discovery channel
2. actually. they don't shave them. they pluck them, wait for them to regrow, and repeat the process. then the birds are used for meat. sad..
3. There are so many down alterrnatives these days that no one has to have the real thing. It is a horrible thing they do. If we were meant to have down I think we would have been born with it. Hats off to you for caring :)
